1:44 pm ET Saratoga (Race 2) – Dark Princess 2/1 (2-star play)
The daughter of Maclean’s Music failed to shine when never in contention in her debut in a maiden special weight over 7 furlongs on turf at Belmont Park in May.
However the drop to $40,000 maiden claiming company and a switch to the main track saw her deliver a good 3rd place over 6 furlongs at the same venue later that month. The pick disappointed in a maiden special weight at Saratoga subsequently but is taken to score back in a maiden claimer.
2:18 pm ET Saratoga (Race 3) – Suspended Campaign 6/5 (2-star play)
Trainer Linda Rice boasts an excellent 25% strike rate (19/77) at this meeting and her mare registered a victory at this venue on her final start for previous handler Rudy Rodriguez when coming home 2 lengths clear of her rivals in a mile $12,500 claiming race earlier this month.
The mare takes a slight step up in class today but has performed well at a higher level in the past and is selected to complete a double.
5:10 pm ET Saratoga (Race 8) – Silver Skillet 2/1 (2-star play)
This grey filly showed solid form when placed in a stakes race on the main track at Aqueduct in October last year and went on to break her maiden by a wide margin on a sloppy surface at Aqueduct in December.
The daughter of Liam’s Map has delivered improved speed figures switched to turf in her two most recent outings, including when winning by a neck in a mile allowance at Saratoga a month ago. She looks capable of following up.
