Horse Racing picks for Saratoga race track on Wednesday, August 31: A win is Not Phar Now

Horse racing on the turf at Santa Anita

There is plenty of great horse racing across America on Wednesday, including at Saratoga race track. We have been in form with our picks for a long time, taking our profit to +297.6 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are our best bets for today’s action at Parx.

4:29 pm ET Saratoga (Race 7) – Not Phar Now 7/2 (2-star play)

Race 7 at Saratoga is a $64,000 Claiming contest over an extended five furlongs on the turf and one who will take all the beating here is the gelding drawn in the outside stall, Not Phar Now, who is a two time winner in this grade and went close in an Allowance Optional Claimer here last time out. He showed up well before fading late when finishing third in that race so with this step back in trip being sure to suit he should go well.

5:05 pm ET Saratoga (Race 8) – Joe Di Baggio 3/1 (2-star play)

A field of seven are set to go to post for this six furlong Claimer on the dirt, and I like the chances of Joe Di Baggio who is having his first start away from Gulfstream Park and has more than enough ability to win this.

He has been running well in valuable Allowance Optional Claimers as of late and the last time he ran in this grade he won, so it will take some performance to stop him from winning here.

5:39 pm ET Saratoga (Race 9) – Bourbon Therapy 20/1 (1-star play)

There’s some really nice two-year-olds in Race 9 at Saratoga which is the hotly contested $175,000 Grade 3 With Anticipation Stakes over a mile and a sixteenth on the turf in which the value play is Michael Maker’s Bourbon Therapy.

Luis Saez’s mount has improved with each race so far and broke his maiden in comfortable fashion last time so, with more experience than most of his rivals, he can hit the board at a price.

6:13 pm ET Saratoga (Race 10) – Devil Boy 5/2 (2-star play)

Jeremiah Englehart’s Devil Boy is a Chestnut colt who has been running well enough in valuable Maiden Special Weight company to make me think he will appreciate this drop into Maiden Claiming class and he can take the finale at Saratoga.

If he can run to the form of his third place finish behind some nice types at Belmont Park two starts back then all of the others will be playing for places.
