New York Yankees -1.5 over Pittsburgh Pirates (+100)

Both the Yankees and Pirates have shown well lately. But what gives the Yankees the edge in this one is their recent success against a more difficult stretch of opponents. The Yankees are 12-5 in their last 17 games which came against the Tigers, Astros, Brewers and Red Sox. The Pirates have had to play the Brewers and Braves recently, but largely cleaned up on the Royals, Cardinals and Nationals for the bulk of their recent wins.

The Yankees are 4-1 in their last 5 games and they are 6-1 in their last 7 games at home. They have a 39-33 run-line record on the road which is better than the Pirates’ record of 36-39 at home. The Yankees also have a primary edge on the mound as Gerrit Cole will start for them and Johan Oviedo will start for the Pirates. The Yankees should be able to keep the good times rolling.

Texas Rangers ML over Cleveland Guardians & Over 8.5 (+188)

The Rangers get a favorable matchup at an important time as they are just a half-game back of the AL West lead. They also happen to be playing good baseball right now as they have won 6 straight and are 6-1 in their last 7 games on the road. The Rangers are coming off of a great series in which they swept a good Blue Jays team and ran up the score to a combined 35-9. If they bring even half of that performance, they should be able to take care of the Guardians just fine.

The over has been trendy for both the Rangers and the Guardians lately. The total has gone over in 5 straight Rangers games and is 9-1 in their last 10. The over has also hit in the last 6 head to head between these teams. Lucas Giolito is starting for Cleveland which gives the over enough of a look even if the Guardians were facing a weak opponent. Look for another high total in this one.

Chicago Cubs vs Arizona Diamondbacks under 8.5 (-110)

The Cubs and Diamondbacks just played a 4-game series in which Arizona won 3 games. There were a total of 21 runs scored in the series for an average of 5.25 runs scored per game. If these teams hold to their head-to-head averages from just last weekend, the under has another great look. Both of these teams have been a little snake-bitten offensively lately which, when paired with their strong pitching, brings plenty of low totals. Friday should bring more of the same.

Starting for the Cubs will be Justin Steele, who gives the under enough appeal in itself. Anytime Steele takes the mound, there is a good chance for a low total. The under has hit in his last 3 starts and he has allowed just 5 runs over his last 33 innings spanning 5 outings. Against the Diamondbacks last week, Steele hurled 7 innings allowing just 1 run. Steele gives the under another great shot in a matchup between these teams.
