One of the shortest-lasting bets you can make in an MLB game is if a run will be scored in the first inning. All it takes is 6 outs to glory, and one swing of the bat can make or break your bet. There is also a lot of value in these bets because the odds are usually very well-priced, and if you’re not a fan of sweating out your bets for 3 hours then this one will take only about 15 minutes to win or lose.
There is 1 YRFI/NRFI bet I like for Wednesday’s slate, so let’s get right into it.

Philadelphia Phillies vs Atlanta Braves: NRFI (-125)
Game 1 between these teams started quickly as the Phillies scored 2 runs in the first inning against Max Fried and the Braves. However, Game 2 could be a little different as neither team will be starting a southpaw. The Phillies and Braves had two of the best offenses against left-handed pitching in the regular season, and they displayed that with the high-scoring game on Tuesday, so we should see a drop-off in run production with Zack Wheeler and Kyle Wright on the mound for Game 2.
Wright has faced the Phillies three times this season and did not allow a first-inning run in any of the outings. He has the benefit of starting at home on Wednesday, and the righty was elite in Atlanta in the regular season as he posted a 13-2 record and a 2.86 ERA at Truist Park.
As for Wheeler, he has been stellar in the first inning in 2022. He posted a 1.38 ERA in the first inning in 26 starts and held the Braves scoreless in the first frame in 2 of his 3 starts against them. I understand that we saw 2 runs in the first inning in Game 1, but these odds are too good to pass up, especially now that it’s a battle of right-handed pitchers. Wright and Wheeler were excellent at the beginning of games in their final starts in the regular season, so I anticipate a scoreless first inning in Atlanta.
