The NBA begins the week with a 6-game slate on Monday night that will see plenty of playoff hopefuls in action. Among the games will be the 2nd game in as many nights between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors, with last night’s contest between the sides being an overtime thriller. Time will tell if that and the other games on the slate will deliver similarly exciting action. You can find out our expert NBA picks for every game tonight and throughout the entire season. But first, let’s dive into my best NBA player prop bets for Monday, January 12.
Best NBA player prop bet: Donovan Mitchell (CLE) over 29.5 points (-112)
Donovan Mitchell will be facing off against his former team tonight and all signs point towards a fantastic scoring night for the guard. Over the last 10 games the Utah Jazz have been dead last in defensive rating while also being a team in the top 10 in pace. That means there should be no shortage of possessions for Mitchell to exploit this porous defense. He should be particularly effective attacking in pick and roll scenarios here as Jusuf Nurkic is not the type of big that could have success switching onto smaller guards on the perimeter. Mitchell has managed to score 30 or more points in 4 of his last 5 games, scoring 28 in the other. Against a team that has just given up 150 points to the Charlotte Hornets, Mitchell should feast.

NBA player prop bet: Maxime Raynaud (SAC) over 7.5 rebounds (-108)
Rookie Maxime Raynaud continues as a starter for the Sacramento Kings with Domantas Sabonis being out, and he has made his time on the floor count. Over the last 10 games he is averaging 8.2 rebounds per contest. He has also hit the over on this line in 14 of his last 18 games. Tonight, he will be taking on a Los Angeles Lakers team that he has already had a 10-rebound performance against this season. With his matchup being Deandre Ayton, look for the rookie to not have to step out far outside the paint to contest his shots, leaving him in great rebounding position. Over the last 10 games the Lakers are also just 17th in opponent offensive rebounds per game so expect Raynaud to be a factor there too, especially with his 7’1” frame.

NBA player prop pick: Ivica Zubac (LAC) over 15.5 points (-108)
The Charlotte Hornets continue to roll with Moussa Diabate at center with Mason Plumlee being out. While he has done an admirable job, tonight’s matchup against the size and bulk of Ivica Zubac should prove difficult. The Croatian managed 18 points the last time these sides faced off this season. He is shooting just over 60% from the field and if Diabate gets pushed around down low tonight as expected, Zubac should continue to score efficiently from deep post positions. The Hornets can use Ryan Kalkbrenner against him too, but the rookie is relatively inexperienced still and could be exploited. Expect the Hornets to have no answer for Zubac in the paint in this one.
