Week 14 in the NFL is here, and it’s a big one for playoff contenders. In fact, one such crucial contest has already taken place, as the Minnesota Vikings improved to 6-7 while dropping the Pittsburgh Steelers to 6-7-1 with a 36-28 victory on Thursday Night Football. This is surely a big week for fantasy owners, as well. This anytime touchdown scorer piece will hopefully point toward some of the teams and individuals that could be in line for big performances on Sunday.

Here is a look at some of my best TD scorer bets.

Favored to score – Leonard Fournette, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-125)

Fournette has been great all season long (665 rushing yards, 402 receiving yards, 9 total touchdowns), but he has been especially outstanding as of late. The LSU product has 144 rushing yards, 14 receptions on 16 targets for 79 receiving yards, and 5 total TDs in Tampa Bay’s last two victories over Indianapolis and Atlanta. There is no reason to think Fournette will slow down against the Buffalo Bills, whose defense has to be beaten on the ground. The Bills boast by far the best passing defense in the NFL and have surrendered only 8 scores through the air. They are in the middle of the pack with 12 rushing TDs allowed.

Slight underdog – Tyler Lockett, WR, Seattle Seahawks (+140)

Russell Wilson being back and presumably getting healthier each week is music to Lockett’s ears. The former Kansas State standout racked up 278 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first two games of the season. He slumped a bit when Wilson was either out completely or less than 100 percent, but Lockett hauled in 7 of 8 targets for 68 yards and a TD during last week’s 30-23 win over San Francisco. There is nothing special about the Houston Texans’ defensive unit, so expect Lockett to get in on Seattle’s fun this weekend.

Bigger underdog – CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys (+150)

Lamb has really come on strong over the past two months. The second-year star out of Oklahoma has scored 7 touchdowns this season and 5 have come in the last seven games. Although he did find the endzone in last week’s 27-17 defeat of New Orleans, Lamb was targeted 13 times and he turned those into 7 receptions for 89 yards to go along with a 33-yard run. The former No. 17 overall pick is getting a ton of opportunities and those should yield substantial success against the Washington Football Team on Sunday. Washington is 30th in the league against the pass and has given up more TDs through the airwaves than any other squad (26).

Longshot – Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens (+250)

Andrews has scored 5 times this year and all 5 have come in the last 7 outings. He has been targeted at least 8 times in five consecutive contests – including 10 times on three of those occasions. Lamar Jackson just loves Andrews, especially in the red zone. In the past two weeks the 2018 third-round pick out of Oklahoma has 8 catches for 115 yards and a TD. The Cleveland Browns have allowed the 11th-most fantasy points to tight ends in 2021. Overall they are in the middle of the pack in pass defense and have given up 22 passing touchdowns.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer FAQs

What does “anytime touchdown scorer” mean?

Anytime touchdown scorer is a popular player prop bet that NFL bettors can wager on throughout the season. But what is it, and how do you win?

As the name suggests, placing a wager on the anytime touchdown scorer market is when you tip a particular player to score a touchdown during a game. This can be a rushing or receiving touchdown for an offensive player, or you can wager on a team’s defense/special teams to score a touchdown by interception return and fumble return or kickoff and punt returns.

If your player or defense scores a touchdown, you win! The odds will differ from player-to-player depending on the sportsbooks’ calculated probability of that player scoring.

Does anytime touchdown scorer include passing touchdowns?

Not for a quarterback, no. A player must get into the endzone, himself, in order to qualify as an anytime touchdown scorer. If a quarterback throws a touchdown pass, only the player who caught it counts as the scorer. If Tom Brady throws a touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski, wagers placed on Gronkowski as an anytime touchdown scorer will cash. However, those placed on Brady as an anytime touchdown scorer will not. See below for more on what the anytime touchdown scorer market means for quarterbacks.

What does anytime touchdown scorer mean for a QB?

For a wager on a QB to be an anytime touchdown scorer to cash, he must follow the same rules as a running back, tight end, or receiver. He must get into the endzone himself, either as a runner or a pass-catcher.

In the age of the mobile quarterback, QBs such as Jackson, Kyler Murray, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen are often seen rushing in for a touchdown on any given Sunday. And don’t forget the occasional Philly Special, either. QBs can sometimes catch passes for TDs, too.
