Week 5 of the NFL season kicked off on Thursday night and it’s safe to say that things can’t possibly get any worse on Sunday. The Colts beat the Broncos 12-9 in a game that was every bit as bad as the score suggests. In fact, it was so bad that a whole host of fans in Denver left at the end of regulation even though, you know, the game was about to go into OT! Whatever the case, the remaining Week 5 slate offers a lot more intrigue.

Here is Sunday’s mega parlay:

Commanders ML (+110)

Lions ML (+145)

Chargers -5.5 alternate spread (+144)

Parlay odds: +1155

For this parlay we are going with one favorite against an alternate spread and two underdogs on the money line. Let’s break down each of the legs one by one.

Commanders ML over Titans (+110)

The most important facet for the Commanders is their run defense. They rank 6th in DVOA against the run, have allowed just 1 rushing touchdown and are limiting the opposition to an average of 108.8 rushing yards per game. It is true that Derrick Henry is better than anyone Washington has seen and the passing defense is lackluster, but Tennessee QB Ryan Tannehill and his less-than-stellar receiving corps may not be able to capitalize. This may be a favorable matchup for the Commanders’ defense. On the other side of the ball. the Titans don’t have a very strong pass rush and their secondary has struggled. Carson Wentz should be able to do enough to get Washington an outright win.

Lions ML over Patriots (+145)

Although there may be a distinct coaching advantage for the Patriots, the guys on the sidelines can only do so much. And, hey, it’s not like Dan Campbell is a bad coach; he is simply going up against Bill Belichick. Campbell certainly seems like a strong motivator if nothing else and he has this franchise climbing back toward respectability. The Lions play hard, and that alone may be enough to beat an unspectacular New England squad. Even without D’Andre Swift and Amon-Ra St. Brown, they still managed to hang 45 points on the Seahawks last week and are now averaging 35 points per game. They are the #1 scoring offense in the NFL. The Pats may not be able to keep up.

Chargers -5.5 alternate spread over Browns (+144)

Both teams are 2-2, but the Chargers are clearly the superior football team. They also have momentum on their side, bouncing back from losses to the Jaguars and Chiefs (not bad losses) to beat Houston 34-24 last weekend. Justin Herbert recovered from his rib injury to complete 27 of 39 passes for 340 yards with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. Cleveland is coming off a 23-20 loss at Atlanta. Jacoby Brissett averaged just 6.7 yards per pass attempt and through 4 games he has 4 TDs and 2 INTs. Even with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt in the backfield, things have been mediocre so far for Cleveland’s offense. On the other side of the ball, the Browns gave up 202 rushing yards to the Falcons on 5.8 yards per carry even though Cordarrelle Patterson was banged up and didn’t play much. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bolts win this one by considerably more than the line would indicate.
