New York Rangers -1.5 (+115) over Florida Panthers

The Rangers and Panthers were 2 of the best in the Eastern Conference last season, and both playoff-bound at the moment. Florida won the Presidents’ Trophy for the NHL’s best record last year, while New York came within 2 games of the Stanley Cup Final. However, the Panthers haven’t been quite as consistent without Jonathan Huberdeau and Claude Giroux.

Therefore, we’ll back the Rangers on home ice. New York has been off since Thursday, and have already taken care of business against Florida this season. That was a 5-3 win on New Year’s Day, which was also down in South Beach. A rested Rangers team should be able to replicate that performance with the Panthers not being as strong outside of the Sunshine State. They’re allowing the 6th-most goals on the road this season, so this should be a big night for New York.

Toronto Maple Leafs ML & Under 6.5 (+145) over New York Islanders

The other early game of the night is another Atlantic Division team taking on a Metro Division opponent. This time the New York team will be on the road, and we’ll be backing the home team instead. The Islanders have really fallen off since their strong start, while the Maple Leafs are looking to catch the NHL-best Boston Bruins. Admittedly, they’re coming off an embarrassing loss to the Montreal Canadiens.

However, the Islanders offensive woes should allow Auston Matthews and the Leafs to bounce back. New York is just 2-5-3 in their last 10 games primarily due to their inability to find the back of the net. They’ve scored just 2.1 goals per game in that same time frame. That includes just 2 goals against the aforementioned Canadiens and they also struggled to beat the league-worst Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 at the end of December. Now facing a Leafs team that is allowing the 5th-fewest goals, it should only take Toronto a few to grab the win tonight.

Be sure to check out our NHL player props for tonight’s action – we’re on a 9-2 run!

Buffalo Sabres vs Dallas Stars – Over 6.5 (-115)

The final game of the night features Johnny Gaudreau heading back to Calgary for the first time to take on his former team – the Flames. However, those teams have been impossible to gauge this season (the lowly Jackets beat the Flames 3-1 earlier this year), so we’ll wrap things up in Dallas instead. The Stars have been incredible at home this season, scoring the 2nd-most goals when in their own arena. Similarly, the Sabres are the 2nd-highest scoring team overall.

They had been the top dog until just recently getting overtaken by the Bruins. However, their record still leaves a bit to be desired. That’s primarily because Buffalo is also allowing the 7th-most goals per game. The only aspect left is the Stars goaltending. That’s where we’ll need something to give, as they’ve been stout in that department this season. However, Tage Thompson and the Sabres have proven to be matchup-proof more often than now, so we’ll back a high-scoring game to round things out.
