I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. We are blessed with NHL action all throughout the day today, with a 12-game slate. That means plenty of games to break down to find the best plays to piece together a mega parlay. We have targeted matchups throughout several time slots to keep Saturday exciting. Not only that, but we also have a different betting market for each play. Analyzing so many games can be overwhelming, but that’s what we have done for you and parlayed our favorite plays together.

Before we dive in, be sure to check out our NHL picks for today’s action.

New York Rangers 3-way ML (+170) over Dallas Stars

It’s only fitting to get such a mega parlay started with the very first game of the day. Both the Rangers and Stars are 2 very defensive teams. Therefore, it’s no surprise this game has the lowest total on the board and is so evenly priced. The Rangers would likely be the slight favorites if they were at home, but the road spot shouldn’t be an issue. They smashed the Minnesota Wild 7-3 on the road already and will be out with a vengeance following their recent loss.

The first Battle of New York went the way of the Islanders, but the Rangers were on the second night of a back-to-back. They have now enjoyed 3 days of rest and can catch a Stars team letting their guard down after a nice win over the Washington Capitals. Dallas is great against teams that can’t match its goaltending, but the Rangers are able do just that. Goaltender Igor Shesterkin is the betting favorite to win the Vezina Trophy once again, and the Stars only put up 2 goals against the Caps. Shesterkin can flip the script and shoot down the Stars in Dallas this afternoon.

St. Louis Blues -1.5 (-125) over Montreal Canadiens

Let’s transition into what is projected to be a much more lopsided game. It’s clear to see why that’s the case given the matchup. The Blues reached the second round of the playoffs last season, and returned 8 of their 9 skaters that scored at least 20 goals. Meanwhile, the Canadiens had the worst record in the entire NHL last season, and made virtually no offseason moves. That’s bad news for a team that allowed the most goals per game last season and scored the 5th-fewest goals per game.

The Blues are a physically imposing team that got off to a hot start to the year. They won each of their first 3 games, including a shutout win over Connor McDavid and the Oilers. If they can keep him off the scoreboard, Montreal should have a very quiet night. Therefore, it should only take a few goals from the Blues to cover the puck line. Now that they’re back in St. Louis to bounce back from their recent loss, it should be the Habs singing the Blues by night’s end.

Washington Capitals ML (+100) over Nashville Predators

Finally, let’s wrap things up with just your standard money line play. The Caps are just slight underdogs given they are on the road in Nashville. The Preds just pulled off a nice win over the Blues, while the Caps had that aforementioned loss to the Stars. It’s no shock that this should be a close game, but Washington can take care of business. They handled the Preds in both meetings last season, winning those games by a combined score of 9-4.

Prior to that loss to Dallas, the Caps had won back-to-back games and 4 of 5 overall. They are also a team that has never minded playing on the road. Washington finished last season with the absolute best road record in the NHL at 25-10-6. As for the Preds, don’t let that recent win fool you. They had lost 5 straight prior to that, including back-to-back losses to the Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers. In fact, they’re only other wins were against the San Jose Sharks, who began the year 0-5-0. The Caps may not be the Colorado Avalanche, but they can calm the Cardiac Cats tonight.

Saturday’s NHL mega parlay (10/29)
