There is nothing quite like a primetime matchup of Cooper Rush vs Daniel Jones on Monday night! Now that I have your attention, we can focus on serious business. The O/U is set at 39.5 for the Cowboys vs Giants game and the Giants are favored by 1 at home. We were pleasantly surprised on Thursday night with a higher-scoring affair than expected between the Steelers and Browns, so let’s hope that momentum carries over into this game, although I’m not optimistic. There are a few angles I’d like to attack so let’s get into them!

Cowboys QB Cooper Rush performed well in Week 2 against the Bengals. He was smart with the football and played efficiently. In 2021, he started in Week 8 against Minnesota and performed even better on the road (24/40 for 325 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT). In those starts, CeeDee Lamb saw 8 and 10 targets and had 6 and 7 receptions. Rush knows to look for his #1 WR and OC Kellen Moore will draw up plays for their best playmaker.
I love that the line this low but would still feel comfortable at 5.5 if you can get plus-odds. The Giants have been banged up defensively to start the season and it has not got much better. DL Leonard Williams will likely miss the game with a sprained MCL. New York grades out as the 22nd-best coverage group in the league and is 29th in generating pass rush. It’s one of the bigger advantages Dallas has in this matchup. I’m putting 1.5 units on this at 4.5 or scale back to 1U at 5.5.

Ezekiel Elliott over 14.5 rush attempts (-119)

Ezekiel Elliott has hit this line in both the games that Cooper Rush has started. He has also averaged 71% of the snaps in those games. My assumption is that Moore must play Elliot more snaps to sell the run and give Rush a higher chance of success on passing downs.
After watching Christian McCaffrey averaging over 6 yards per carry against the Giants, I’m confident Elliott can have success on Monday night. Rush completed 83% of his passes in play action last week and as a result, I expect his number of PA attempts to increase. That would imply Zeke being on the field for a higher percentage of plays. Also, if the Cowboys can jump out to an early lead, as we saw against the Bengals, Elliott could be in for a big workload. I’m on this for 1 unit.

Richie James’ workload for the Giants has been consistent through 2 games, with 6 targets for 5 receptions each time. He’s second on the team in total targets and target percentage. At over 4/1 odds for a guy that is such a pivotal part of this offense, that is exceptional value. Dallas will sell out to stop RB Saquon Barkley, and that is where James could find his first score of the year. Kadarius Toney is likely to be out, so that should solidify a third week of production for James.
