NFL Las Vegas Raiders vs Pittsburgh Steelers expert predictions

That win over the Patriots will have done wonders for the Raiders’ confidence, but this team has still struggled all season long and could be set to struggle against this ferocious Steelers team. Pittsburgh hasn’t been the hottest team this season either but their defense still holds plenty of talent that should be able to keep the likes of Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams in check.

Las Vegas Raiders vs Pittsburgh Steelers expert picks

We’ve got 2 standout NFL picks for the clash between the Raiders and Steelers.

Raiders vs Steelers point spread pick: Steelers -2 (-110)

Saturday Night Football here as the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Las Vegas Raiders. Mike Tomlin can’t afford any more losses unless he wants to have the first losing season of his coaching career, as the Steelers enter at 6-8. I’m not sure he will be able to rattle off three straight victories to close the year, but I do think he will pull out the win here. It’s a great time to sell high on the Raiders coming off their miracle last-second victory over the Patriots which featured one of the most improbable finishes you’ll ever see in the NFL. If this isn’t a let-down spot, I don’t know what it is. Nobody has been paying much attention, but Pittsburgh has quietly been getting a lot better recently.

They’ve won three of their past four games, with the only loss in that span coming by just two points against the Ravens. Kenny Pickett is making his return from the concussion protocol here, and he was really starting to settle in before getting hurt. Perhaps most encouragingly for Pittsburgh’s offense, they were finally able to get the ground game going last week against a tough Carolina defense. They had 156 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, and if they can have anywhere near that kind of production here then I think they’ll win this game easily. The Raiders just gave up 172 yards to Rhamondre Stevenson in their most recent game, so I think the Steelers will be able to continue to run the ball effectively. I’m backing the home team on the spread.

Raiders vs Steelers Over/Under totals pick: Under 38 (-110)

The under also makes a lot of sense here. The Steelers just had a lot of success running the ball for the first time in a while, and I expect them to stick with that strategy again here. The Raiders have been vulnerable against the run, and they just got gashed by the Patriots last week.

On the other side of the ball, I don’t see the Raiders scoring much at all. Derek Carr has always struggled in cold games throughout his career, and it’s going to be pretty chilly here in Pittsburgh on Saturday night. Las Vegas scored 30 last week, but that number is very misleading. They only had 308 yards of total offense, and Carr averaged just 6.1 yards per attempt. The week before that, the Raiders scored only 16 against the Rams. Pittsburgh’s defense has been playing much better since TJ Watt came back from injury, and they’ve given up 17 or fewer points in four straight games.
