Stars ML (+112)

After falling short in Game 1 of this series, the Winnipeg Jets are looking to avoid an 0-2 hole in tonight’s Game 2. Going down 0-2 would be a massive hole to climb out of, so they’ll need to come together as a team and find a way to slow down Rantanen, who is doing everything at an elite level right now.

The Stars come into this game as slight underdogs, which isn’t all that surprising. The Jets played better in Game 1, but they still couldn’t get timely saves from goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. There is a strong chance that Josh Morrissey isn’t ready to return to the lineup, forcing everyone on the back end to have to play more minutes and out of their comfort zone. The Stars are a complete hockey team with great depth and few weaknesses. This won’t be a blowout, but they are better in every offensive category, and Jake Oettinger is proving he can be counted on. Look for Dallas to take a 2-0 lead.

Jake Oettinger over 26.5 saves (-110)

As previously mentioned, Oettinger has proven he can be counted on this postseason, even when facing a high number of shots. Dallas is a strong defensive team, but Oettinger has seen plenty of action between the pipes. The 26-year-old netminder has faced 255 shots so far in the playoffs, and he’s stopped 233 of them, which adds up to a .914 save percentage. He’s made 27+ saves in 5 of 8 playoffs games, and is making 29.1 saves per game. We don’t even need him to reach that number, as we need 27 for this leg to hit. With Winnipeg facing a possible 0-2 hole, look for the Jets to come out firing, and for Oettinger to be up to the task.

Kyle Connor over 3.5 shots on goal (+134)

Kyle Connor is Winnipeg’s go-to goal-scorer. The former Michigan Wolverine led the Jets with 41 goals in the regular season, and has potted 3 goals so far in the postseason. He also led his team with 267 shots on goal in the regular season, and leads Winnipeg with 25 shots on goal in the playoffs. He sees plenty of ice time, which could possibly be increased in a pivotal Game 2. He is the main option on Winnipeg’s power play, and should have the puck on his stick a lot tonight. In Winnipeg’s biggest game of the postseason so far in Game 7 against the Jets, Connor fired 7 shots on goal. This game isn’t win-or-go-home, but don’t be surprised if Connor plays with that kind of urgency and is looking to fire pucks on net early and often.
