The NBA In-Season Tournament has concluded and was ultimately a success. We saw competitive basketball in November that we have not seen in years. Now we face the stretch between now and All-Star Weekend (February 16-18) that we need to be cautious of. Will this be the “downtime” that NBA players slide into and in turn, result in more blowouts? Last night, we had a 13-game slate with 6 games being decided by double figures; so that’s something to monitor. Let’s dive into tonight’s 5-game slate, and be sure to check out our NBA picks for today.

Stephen Curry (GSW) over 28.5 points (-115)

Line available at BetMGM at time of publishing.

It seems obvious to bet a Steph Curry over, but that hasn’t been the case this season. The Warriors are in flux and the end of the dynasty appears almost imminent. Steph isn’t ready to let go just yet. He’s averaging 0.86 points per minute this season and a median minute output of 34.5 giving us a baseline projection of 29.6 points. As far as the matchup is concerned, he gets the Suns on the road, where Curry gets a slight bump in 3P shooting (+7%) and a Suns team that struggles to defend off screen scoring (bottom 12). Phoenix will be without Grayson Allen or Nasir Little Tuesday night and we should see Bradley Beal return. These are all net negatives defensively for the Suns squad and I’m getting a beatable number at 28.5 for Curry coming off back-to-back 30 point performances. This is 1u play from me.
