We got to endure a jam-packed night of NHL action yesterday with a whole host of teams taking the ice, but today’s going to look drastically different. There are just 2 games on the slate, and both are scheduled for 8:00 pm ET: the Philadelphia Flyers vs Minnesota Wild and Nashville Predators vs Dallas Stars. Luckily though, both contests should be fairly competitive.

I had a disappointing showing in my last player prop write-up, but my record on the season still stands at a solid 10-4. I’m back again with a couple more NHL player props for today’s matchups, and hopefully my record at the end of the night will sit at 12-4. You can also read our NHL predictions for in-depth analysis on both matchups.

Travis Konecny over 3.5 shots on goal (+100)

In the Flyers vs Wild game, there are a few players that come to mind when deciding on player props. However, the one that sticks out the most has to be Travis Konecny. He’s tied for 12th in the NHL in goals this campaign and has been on an absolute tear recently, recording 1+ point in 16 of his last 20 outings. We have a different market in mind though, that being shots on goal. In 5 games this month, Konecny has at least 5 SOG in all but 1 of them, and now faces the NHL’s 22nd-worst defense on a goals allowed per game basis.

Minnesota has allowed at least 3 goals in 9 of their last 10 contests, including 7 against the Stars just 2 days ago. Things don’t get any easier with Konecny and the Flyers coming to town, with Philly ranking 6th in the league in shots per game at 33.3. With that being said, expect the Flyers to take at least that many shots tonight, with Konecny leading the charge from start to finish.

Matt Duchene over 0.5 points (-145)

With the other matchup on today’s schedule, I’m confident that Matt Duchene will have a big night for the Dallas Stars against the Nashville Predators. Dallas will be at home, where they’ve notched at least 4 goals in 5 of their last 7 games. They should be able to end up right around there tonight too against Nashville (19th in NHL in goals allowed per game, 3.2), and it’s hard to envision Duchene not playing a factor.

The Canadian has compiled at least 1 point in 5 of his last 6 games played and has already recorded a point against the Predators this season. It’s also worth noting that Duchene is averaging over a point per game at home in this campaign, where, as we already stated, Dallas is lethal on offense. While Jason Robertson commands much of the attention for the Stars, and rightfully so, it’s Duchene that has a good chance at breaking the spirits of Predators fans tonight.
