Since graduating from Davidson (The College That Stephen Curry Built), I have been writing about sports -- just about any and all you can think of! -- and coaching tennis in Atlanta, GA. Beyond the four major sports, I am an avid tennis fan and cover the ATP Tour on a daily basis. If I'm not busy writing, you can generally find me on a tennis court or traveling the world wherever a sporting event takes me. For Ricky Dimon media enquiries, please email contact@pickswise.com.

Good morning, Pickswise Nation. Super Bowl 57 is on the immediate horizon and there is plenty of action in other sports to hold us over until Super Bowl Sunday. Don’t sleep on the NBA, NHL and college basketball, while the golf and tennis tours are also in full swing. It’s another big day in the world of sports, so let’s get right to it and make your next bet better with Wise n’ Shine!

About Last Night

NHL in-state rivalry game ends in a rout
Florida faced Tampa Bay on Monday and to say that the Panthers dominated would be an understatement. They put up a touchdown (and an extra point), whereas the Lightning managed only 1 goal as the game finished 7-1. Meanwhile, we cashed our 3-star best bet of the day with the Islanders taking care of the Flyers.

NBA experts go 11-5
The Pickswise NBA experts went 11-5 on their picks — 6-2 ATS/ML and 5-3 O/U. Among the highlights were both the Kings (vs Houston) and the Bucks (vs Portland) winning and covering as 3-star best bets.

Hangover hits Duke hard against Miami
Just 2 days after beating North Carolina, Duke was faced with a tough test at Miami. The Blue Devils never came close to passing it, as the Hurricanes rolled from start to finish en route to an 81-59 victory. A more competitive contest saw #9 Kansas topple #5 Texas 88-80.

Today’s Slate

LeBron on brink of NBA scoring record
LeBron James has a realistic chance of breaking the NBA’s all-time scoring record on Tuesday night when the Lakers host the Thunder. He is 36 points away from passing Kareem Abdul-Jabar. Meanwhile, there is also a doubleheader on TNT featuring Atlanta at New Orleans and Minnesota at Denver. Don’t miss any of our NBA picks.

Lightning look to bounce back
With the All-Star Weekend in the rearview mirror, the proverbial second half of the NHL season is heating up with 6 games on Tuesday. Tampa Bay, which hosts San Jose at 7:00 pm ET on ESPN+, is hoping to rebound after getting humiliated 7-1 by Florida on Monday. You can find our hockey coverage with our NHL predictions.

Top-25 matchups abound in college basketball
Tuesday’s schedule on the college hardwood almost resembles a Saturday. There are a whopping 4 games between top-25 teams on the menu, including #22 NC State at #8 Virginia in a battle toward the top of the ACC. Indiana, ranked #18, will look to build on its upset of top-ranked Purdue when it hosts #24 Rutgers. Here are our college basketball predictions.

Best Bet of the Day

NBA: Phoenix Suns -4.5 over Brooklyn Nets
7:40 pm ET

The moment all Suns fans have been eagerly anticipating is here – Devin Booker makes his long awaited return from injury tonight against the Nets. He last played on Christmas Day, and since then the Suns are 11-15 SU, struggling heavily on the offensive end. I don’t expect all of their issues to be resolved in his first game back, but it’s a good start. Since the return of Chris Paul, the Suns have gone on a solid run of 8-2 SU/ATS in their last 10 games. As for the Nets, they just traded away Kyrie Irving and lost to the Clippers last night. Take the Suns to add to Brooklyn’s misery. Be sure to read our full Phoenix Suns vs Brooklyn Nets predictions.

Stat of the Day

The Kraken, who visit the Islanders tonight, are averaging 4.3 goals per game on the road this season – by far the most in the NHL.

Quote of the Day

”Do you always have this little chip on your shoulder? Sure, yeah, you do. But that’s who I am as a coach and as a person. I want to make sure I’m working my butt off to get as good as I possibly can. And sure, you hold on to some of those things.”

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni on Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who did not retain Sirianni on his staff when Reid took over at the end of the 2012 season (Sirianni had been Kansas City’s wide receivers coach).
