About Last Night

Suns stretch winning streak to 9
It was a busy day in the NBA on Wednesday with 11 games, and Western Conference top dogs the Phoenix Suns extended their winning run to 9 games by beating the Golden State Warriors. It was the Warriors’ 7th loss in 8 games. In the East, the Raptors beat the Timberwolves 125-102 and the Cavaliers lost to the Mavericks, giving Toronto a 2-game advantage in the battle for the 6th seed.

Close contests in the NHL
There were a bunch of close finishes in the NHL on Wednesday, with the 6-game slate producing an overtime finish as the Rangers beat the Red Wings 5-4, and 2 games that went to shootouts, with the Jets beating the Sabres and the Oilers edging past the Kings.

USMNT is going to the World Cup… just!
The United States merely needed to avoid a heavy loss to Costa Rica last night to qualify for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar and the USMNT just about did it, despite a worry when the home team scored twice in quick succession. A 2-0 loss was enough for the Stars and Stripes to finish 3rd in the group, behind Canada and Mexico.

Today’s Slate

Bucks vs Nets on TNT
We have 5 games on the NBA slate today, some with major playoff implications. The Bucks play the Nets on TNT at 7:30 pm ET before the Lakers meet the Jazz on the same channel at 10:00 pm ET. The Lakers have lost their last 3 games and the Jazz are on a 5-game losing skid, but someone has to get the win tonight! Read today’s NBA game previews.

9 games in the NHL
There are 9 games to look forward to on the ice tonight, with Blues vs Oilers being one of the more attractive games. Get our picks for today’s NHL matchups.

Golf stars prepare for the Masters
The Masters is just a week away and after last week’s great golf winner of Scottie Scheffler at 17/1 in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, we have more golf advice for this week’s tournament, the Valero Texas Open.

Best Bet of the Day

Carolina Hurricanes -1.5 vs Montreal Canadiens
7:00 pm ET, ESPN+

It seems as though the honeymoon period of the Canadiens’ coaching change has faded, and they have lost 8 of their last 11 games. Carolina will be coming into this matchup confident of increasing their divisional lead knowing they’ll be facing the 2nd-worst goaltending in the NHL. Montreal currently allows 3.76 goals per game. The Canadiens also have the 2nd-worst goalscoring mark with just 2.55 per game. The Hurricanes should breeze by Montreal. Check out our full preview for Canadiens vs Hurricanes.
