Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

It’s hump day, but the outlook is better than that in NFL terms as we’re two-thirds of the way between Monday Night Football and Thursday Night Football already; Week 2 is almost here! The fight for MLB playoff spots is really heating up now, too, so let’s get straight to it!

About Last Night

Perfect prop picks keep rolling
We were on an 8-1 run on MLB player props before Tuesday’s games so guess where it stands now? That’s right; 10-1 after another 2-0 day thanks to PropBetGuy! In yesterday’s other MLB action, World Series favorites the Dodgers locked up their playoff spot with an 8-4 win over the Diamondbacks, but the 84-60 Astros (-200 favorites) were slammed 8-1 by the 54-90 Rangers in a real head-scratcher.

Today’s Slate

MLB and soccer show the way
There’s a nice, full, 15-game MLB schedule to tuck into today, including the Rockies at the Braves (ESPN+, 7:20pm ET) and the Diamondbacks at the Dodgers (ESPN, 10pm ET). Check out our picks for the side and total for all of today’s games. Don’t forget that soccer’s UEFA Champions League group stage is also underway this week, with this afternoon’s action including Liverpool vs AC Milan and Manchester City vs RB Leipzig. Check out our picks for those 3pm ET games and tonight’s MLS action here.

Best Bet of the Day

Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 vs Detroit Tigers
1:10pm ET

The Tigers won last night’s game by a score of 1-0 in 11 innings, and that was their second consecutive 11-inning game. Their bullpen is probably a little spent, and they might be looking for rookie Matt Manning to eat up some innings in this one. That could be a tall task for the young right-hander, as he has not made it out of the 4th inning in each of his last 2 outings. Check out our full preview of Brewers vs Tigers.

Must-read

Our lead betting analyst Jared Smith has gone Back to the Futures with a look at the biggest market reactions to NFL Week 1, and if you feel the need to disagree with something today (or even be pleasantly surprised, who knows?), take a look at our Pickswise NFL Power Rankings.

On top of that, our NFL experts debate this week’s hot topic — can Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay bounce back from their Week 1 humiliation? And we’re already looking ahead to Thursday Night Football with PropBetGuy’s best player prop for NY Giants vs Washington.

Stat of the Day

Seattle starter Marco Gonzales has won 7 decisions in a row and the Mariners are 9-2 over his last 11 starts.

Boost of the day

Boston Red Sox & New York Mets both to win

FanDuel Sportsbook has put a nice lift on this 2-team MLB parlay, which needs the Red Sox to beat the Mariners and the Mets to win against the Cardinals, boosting the odds from +190 to +250.
