Best bet for NFL Week 9: Houston Texans -5.5 over Los Angeles Chargers (-112)

The Chargers are pretty much an automatic fade these days. They are 0-7 – the last winless team in the NFL – and generally not even competitive. Head coach Jim Harbaugh’s squad has gotten blown out by double-digits four times and has not lost by fewer than six points all year long. There were high hopes for this offense when the season began with OC Mike McDaniel and QB Justin Herbert. Instead, the Bolts are dead last in the NFL in scoring (14.1 ppg) and #28 in yards.

Now they have to go up against a Texans defense that was incredible in 2025 and certainly still has the personnel to return to that level even though the unit has struggled this season. The good news is that the Texans are in a fantastic spot this week. They are coming off a bye, and they have been playing decent football of late after starting the year 0-5. Head coach DeMeco Ryans’ team has won two of its last three games – including over Jacksonville – with only an overtime loss to the 4-2-1 Giants during this stretch. Even on the road (it’s not like L.A. has any kind of home-field advantage), Houston should be able to beat the worst team in the league by at least a touchown.

We'll have NFL picks for every game in Week 9!
