It’s women’s semifinals day at the French Open on Thursday. One week after the men’s draw lost its top seed in Jannik Sinner, the WTA world No. 1 crashed out of the French Open on Wednesday. That means there will be a first-time Grand Slam singles champion in each event. On the women’s side, it’s down to Mirra Andreeva, Marta Kostyuk, Diana Shnaider and Maya Chwalinska. If you’re asking, “who?!?!” in some of the above cases, well...you probably aren’t alone.

Let’s take a look at the French Open best bets to make on the Day 12 schedule.

French Open best bet: Mirra Andreeva vs Marta Kostyuk Over 21.5 games (-115)

This is a showdown between top-15 players, and whoever wins will be favored to lift the trophy on Saturday afternoon. Andreeva is the higher-ranked woman and has more experience at the business end of major tournaments, but Kostyuk has the edge in current form and leads their head-to-head series 2-0. Something’s gotta give on Thursday, and it’s no easy task to determine which seemingly immovable object finally crumbles. Kostyuk has won 16 matches in a row on clay this spring, while Andreeva finished runner-up at the 1000-point tournament in Madrid (lost to Kostyuk) and also reached the French Open semis 2 years ago. Anything less than a 3-set thriller would be a disappointment.

French Open prediction: Diana Shnaider ML over Maja Chwalinska (-175)

Yes, Maja Chwalinska is in the semis of a slam. The Pole is ranked #114 in the world and has the same amount of prize money (pre-French Open) in 2026: $114K. As a result of being well outside the top 100, Chwalinska had to win 3 qualifying matches simply to get into the main draw at Roland Garros. Full credit to her for making in this far, but it has to be said that she benefited from a favorable path through the bracket. Chwalinska did not beat anyone seeded better than #22 during her run to the semis. Shnaider (25th) is not seeded especially high, either, but she is playing like one of the best players in the world. The 22-year-old Russian ousted Madison Keys in round 4 and then stunned world #1 Aryna Sabalenka 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 in the quarterfinals after trailing 6-3, 5-3. Shnaider belongs on this kind of stage. Does Chwalinska? We’ll find out. Shnaider should be an even bigger favorite.
