US Open Day 10 Best Bets & Predictions: 3 Picks for September 8
We have reached the business end of the U.S. Open, with the quarterfinal schedule getting underway on Tuesday. It is headlined by a showdown between Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton. On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula are among those taking the court. Here are the US Open best bets to be made for the quarterfinals on Day 10 in New York City.
US Open Best Bet: Frances Tiafoe -1.5 games over Alex Michelsen (-120)
This has always been Tiafoe's favorite tournament, and he is once again cooking at Flushing Meadows. The 28-year-old American has been in especially imperious form over the past two matches, ousting seeds Valentin Vacherot and Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. This marks Big Foe’s fourth quarterfinal appearance at the U.S. Open (all in the last five years), and he is bidding for a third trip to the semis.
Michelsen, on the other hand, had never advanced past round four of a slam prior to this fortnight. The experience edge is massively in Tiafoe's favor. Moreover, Tiafoe has won both of their previous meetings in straight sets.
US Open Best Bet: Linda Noskova +1.5 sets over Aryna Sabalenka (-132)
The 2026 season has been a struggle by Sabalenka’s lofty standards. The world #1 has not reached the quarterfinals of any tournament since June on the grass courts of Berlin, and she is still seeking her first final appearance since March (Miami).
As for Noskova, she won Wimbledon earlier this summer. It understandably took the Czech a while to recover mentally from her life-changing moment at the All-England Club, but she is back on track now -- perhaps in time to make another run at major glory. In the fourth round, Noskova beat Marta Kostyuk, who had been 30-4 in her last 34 matches. Asking the underdog to snag only one set should not be too much.
US Open Best Bet: Jessica Pegula vs Emma Navarro Over 20.5 games (-110)
Pegula and Navarro have faced each other four times. Three of the four have lasted at least 22 games and three of the four have required a final set. Another tight one should be in the cards. Navarro is a sizable underdog, but she may be able to keep it closer than the odds would indicate. The 25-year-old did not lose a set in her last two matches, defeating Wimbledon finalist Karolina Muchova and world #23 Anna Kalinskaya. Navarro was a U.S. Open semifinalist in 2024, so she knows what she's doing on this kind of big stage. An outright upset may be slightly out of reach, but Navarro will probably make a long match out of it.
