US Open Day 8 Best Bets & Predictions: 3 Picks for September 6
Fourth-round competition at U.S. Open gets underway on Sunday, when quarterfinal spots will be handed out. Yes, the business end of the tournament is already coming upon us fast. Among those looking to keep their title hopes alive are Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula.
Here are the best bets to be made on Day 8 in New York City.
US Open Best Bet: Frances Tiafoe +2.5 games over Daniil Medvedev (-115)
Tiafoe has been in stellar form during the American hard-court summer. The world #12 finished runner-up in Cincinnati, where he knocked off Learner Tien, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Lorenzo Musetti and Brandon Nakashima en route. Tiafoe needed required five sets in his first-round match at the U.S. Open, but he destroyed his next two opponents in impressive fashion. Medvedev’s summer, on the other hand, has been a disappointment. The 30-year-old lost his opening match in Montreal, lost his second match in Cincinnati and lost his opening match in Winston-Salem (to Martin Damm, whom Tiafoe defeated earlier this week). Medvedev may be a former U.S. Open champion (2021), but won just a single match across the four Grand Slams last season and has not yet been past round four of a major in 2026. Tiafoe is a two-time U.S. Open semifinalist and also reached the quarterfinals in 2023. In front of the home crowd, the in-form American should even win this one outright.
US Open Best Bet: Marta Kostyuk ML over Linda Noskova (-144)
Noskova won Wimbledon earlier this summer. Yes, it was two months ago – but when such a life-changing moment takes place, it can take a while to mentally get back in gear. That can be the case for anyone, and it appears to be the case for Noskova. The Czech has since lost to Caty McNally in Toronto (second round) and to Amanda Anisimova in Cincinnati (fourth round) -- both in straight sets and with one set in each match being a lopsided 6-1. Noskova has done well to win three matches so far at the U.S. Open, but on Friday she needed three sets against Ann Li. Kostyuk, meanwhile, completely crushed her first three foes. The Ukrainian is an incredible 30-4 in her last 34 matches.
US Open Best Bet: Emma Navarro ML over Anna Kalinskaya (-110)
Navarro was unspectacular through two rounds in New York, but she raised her level to defeat former Roland Garros and Wimbledon runner-up Karolina Muchova 6-3, 7-5 on Friday. U.S. Open success is nothing new for Navarro, who upset Coco Gauff on her way to the semifinals in 2024. For Kalinskaya, however, this is the only Grand Slam at which she has never advanced past the third round. Kalinskaya is coming off consecutive three-setters against Xinyu Wang and Elina Svitolina and she has a history of physical problems, so that could be a bit of a question mark moving forward in this tournament. Even if the Russian is 100 percent, the American should have the edge at home.
