Baltimore Orioles vs Kansas City Royals Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/21/26

The Kansas City Royals are in a free fall, losing their last 8 games entering play on Tuesday. Monday night’s game was another heartbreaker for Kansas City fans, as the Royals entered the 9th inning with a 1-0 lead. Lucas Erceg blew another save, leading to extra innings between the teams. The teams traded blows in extra innings, but Baltimore prevailed with a 7-5 victory to bring their record to 11-12. Tuesday presents us with an interesting pitching matchup, but I do side with Baltimore in this game at current pricing.

Shane Baz has largely been unimpressive for me to start the season, posting a 4.91 ERA in his first 22 innings with his new club. He has not found the strikeout stuff yet with 19 Ks to 8 walks, and he has allowed 3 or more earned runs in 3of his first 4 outings. That being said, Baz does have slightly better underlying metrics with a 4.23 xERA and 3.95 FIP, and he should benefit from facing a Royals offense that ranks 25th in wOBA with an 85 wRC+ against right-handed pitching so far.

Kris Bubic is the scheduled starter for Kansas City on Tuesday. Bubic is one of the stronger options in this Kansas City rotation, but he has not been overly sharp to begin 2026. A 3.97 ERA is fine, but he has allowed 3 walks in 3 of his 4 starts including his last outing where Detroit got to him for 5 earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. Bubic has solid strikeout stuff, but Baltimore has been decent against lefties so far, ranking 14th in wOBA with a wRC+ of 101. I find current pricing on Baltimore to be tempting given the Royals current form.
