Red Sox vs Orioles Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
BAL Orioles Win(-120)

Things aren’t going well for the Red Sox right now, as they have lost 7 of their last 10 games and head to Baltimore fresh off being swept by the Yankees in Boston. In fact, the BoSox scored just 3 runs in the 3 rivalry games combined. Meanwhile, the Orioles have been slightly better, though not by much. Baltimore is 4-6 SU in their last 10 games, most recently taking 2 of 3 in Kansas City before a day off on Thursday.

Brayan Bello will get the start for the Red Sox, and like the rest of the team, it’s been a rough start to the year for him. His 1-2 record, 6.75 ERA and 1.93 WHIP appropriately depict his struggles, as he’s failed to go 5 full innings, allowed at least 3 walks and surrendered at least 3 runs in 3 of his 4 starts. Opposing Bello will be Baltimore youngster Brandon Young, who will start just his 2nd game of the year in the Majors. His last appearance came on April 6, when he threw 5 innings of 0-run baseball in Chicago against the White Sox. However, he’s started 3 games in AAA, allowing just 2 runs in 16.2 innings with 19 strikeouts and just 3 walks.

Coming off consecutive disappointing series against Detroit and New York, this is a tough spot for the Red Sox. With a rest advantage and arguably the better pitcher – at least the more in-form pitcher – on the mound, I’m giving Baltimore the slight edge in this matchup, especially considering the bullpen matchup is relatively even.

Red Sox vs Orioles prediction: Orioles ML (-120) at the time of publishing. Playable to -125.
