Run Line Prediction

The Marlins pulled off the biggest upset in baseball on Saturday’s card, cashing as a two-dollar dog as they garnered just enough run support off Jacob DeGrom en route to a 3-0 win. On Sunday, Miami will roll out right hander John Curtiss to oppose Marcus Stroman. Curtiss seems pegged to be put in an opener-type role as Sunday will be his third appearance of the season but first start. Expect Curtiss to face the Mets lineup one time through at most, setting the Fish up for a bullpen game.

Marcus Stroman provided the Mets with a quality start on April 6 against Atlanta, going six innings allowing one run on three hits. Stroman isn’t a high strikeout pitcher like his teammate Jacob DeGrom, but has always been an above-average game manager on the mound. Stroman can give the Mets another quality start, putting New York’s bullpen in a position to secure the weekend series win. Miami’s offense has had their struggles in the early on as they’ve been unable to capitalize with runners on base. Stroman did a solid job of limiting runners in his first start as he currently sports a 100% left on base percentage. Back the Mets to get to Curtiss and co. to win by multiple runs.

Game Totals Prediction

The under is the recommendation in this matchup as both offenses have started slow out of the gate. Both Miami and New York rank in the bottom of the league with regards to team slugging and rank dead-last in home runs hit (3.) Both teams also rank in the bottom half of the league in team batting average. Not being able to string together consecutive base hits coupled with not being a home run threat makes it tough for both teams to score runs. If Stroman is able to provide the Mets with another six quality innings against a lackluster offense, this game has the potential to stay under the total. Back the under in what projects to be another low-scoring affair.
