The Tigers split a 4-game set in Boston over the weekend, but they have won 8 of their last 10 to climb back above .500 and near the top of the AL Central. The Brewers have cooled off from their hot start after some injuries, but they have won their last 2 series. Milwaukee has the advantage of rest, as the Tigers just played on Patriots Day in Boston. I am going with the Brewers to win this series opener.

The pitching matchup is Kyle Harrison vs Keider Montero. Harrison hasn’t been deep into games, but he has given the Brewers 3 useful starts so far. Montero got the call when Verlander went down, and he has been adequate. The slight edge in this game goes to Harrison, though, as the Tigers do struggle against left-handed pitching. The most dangerous bats in this lineup are the lefties, and they are somewhat neutralized in the weak side of the platoon. The Tigers are hitting just .211 as a team vs LHP, and if those struggles continue, that should give the edge to the Brew Crew.
