Money Line Pick
CHI Cubs Win(-125)

The New York Mets will take on the Chicago Cubs for the 3rd game of the series. The Cubs have won the first 2 games, outscoring the Mets 16-6. The interesting thing is that the Mets have outhit the Cubs through those 2 games. However, they are struggling to score runs, averaging 2.25 hits per run scored. This has been the opposite of the Cubs, who rank 6th in runs scored with 106 runs through 20 games. The Cubs have the advantage with the bats, but both bullpens have played very similarly this season.

On the mound, we will see David Peterson of the Mets and Javier Assad of the Cubs. Peterson has a 8.79 ERA through 3 starts in April. In those starts, he has pitched 14.1 innings, giving up 20 hits, 8 walks and 14 earned runs. I have a hard time seeing Peterson get it back on track against this Cubs lineup. For the Cubs, Assad will take the mound. Assad is coming off a brutal start against the Philadelphia Phillies in which he gave up 11 hits and 9 runs through 4.1 innings. The Cubs will be hopeful he can replicate his first start where he gave up 1 hit and 0 runs through 5.2 innings against the Tampa Bay Rays. Overall, I do not trust the Mets to score and Peterson has struggled. I am taking the Cubs on the money line.
