Mets vs Rockies Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Over 9.5(-110)

The New York Mets and Colorado Rockies meet on Wednesday evening in a rescheduled game after Tuesday’s contest was snowed out. There is actually snow in the forecast on Wednesday until noon local time, and temperatures will be around 40 degrees for first pitch, but skies will be clear. The Mets won Monday’s series opener 4-2 as moderate favorites (-138), and New York has won three of the first four games on the road trip. While the Under has cashed in four in a row, we’re going to look at the Over. First off, both teams are rested after the unexpected day off. And, while RHP Freddy Peralta has done a decent enough job, allowing three or fewer runs in six straight starts, he has lasted six or fewer innings in each of his seven outings.

For the Rockies, RHP Michael Lorenzen is on the bump, and he has a 2-3 record, 6.09 ERA and 1.76 WHIP across 34 IP in his seven starts and one relief appearance. At Coors Field, he has been a disaster, going 1-1 with an 8.56 ERA in 13 2/3 IP in three starts. Teams are hitting .394 against him in Denver, too. As such, the Mets might be a good play, but the better option is taking the Over based on Lorenzen’s horrific splits at home.

Over 9.5 (-110) at time of publishing. Playable to 10.
