The Colorado Rockies continue getting wins over their National League West rivals, defeating the San Diego Padres 8-3 on Wednesday afternoon. The Rockies have now won 3 of the past 5 games over the Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers, but remain 6.5 games back of those 2 division leaders. The Rockies get the opportunity to steal another series win on Thursday afternoon, as the Padres send Matt Waldron to the mound after a tough first start of the season.

Waldron spent most of the 2025 season in AAA after starting 26 games for the Padres in 2024. San Diego had plans to bring him back up for the 2026 season, but an infected hemorrhoid put him on the injured list during Spring Training. Waldron’s start against the Los Angeles Angels was rocky to kick off his season, allowing 8 hits and 6 earned runs over 3.2 innings.

Ryan Feltner has had his own problems for the Rockies this season, owning a 6.00 ERA over 4 starts. He bounced back with a solid outing against the Dodgers last week, but in the start before that, the Padres beat up on him for 7 hits and 6 earned runs over 4 innings.

Coors Field overs are fun, but I try to stay away from them, given that the value usually isn’t there. However, the over at just 11 on Thursday looks enticing.
