Mariners vs White Sox Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Over 9.5(+100)

With Bryce Miller scheduled to return to the Seattle Mariners major league roster sooner than later, Luis Castillo could perhaps find himself as the odd man out in this starting rotation. Seattle could move to a 6-man rotation, or have an expensive long reliever, or try to trade him to another team. Trading him is unrealistic at this time given his current form, as he enters Saturday with a 6.29 ERA in 34.1 innings. His batted ball profile is among the worst in the sport, and I don’t look for him to find his form against Chicago. The White Sox have a powerful lineup spearheaded by Munetaka Murakami and his 15 home runs.

Anthony Kay is the scheduled starter for Chicago in this game. The southpaw hurler has been a disappointment for the team’s rotation this season, posting a 5.70 ERA through his first 30 innings. Kay has an even worse 7.62 xERA thanks to poor batted ball metrics, a miniscule strikeout rate, and an inability to find the zone with consistency. Seattle has not been good against left-handed pitching so if forced to pick a side I’d lean towards the underdog White Sox. The over is my preferred angle in this game, however.
