Money Line Pick
TB Rays Win(-140)

The Tampa Bay Rays head to the South Side to face the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, beginning a 3-game set. The Rays swept the Yankees over the weekend and have some momentum heading into this one. The Sox split a 4-game set with the Royals. The big story in this game is the debut of Chicago pitching prospect Noah Shultz. Here’s the scouting report: Shultz is a big guy, standing at 6’10”, and he throws from a low arm slot. His size and delivery resemble Randy Johnson, but let’s not get too carried away with that comp just yet. Expect a big fastball and a filthy slider though.

Shultz will face Shane McClanahan, who continues to build back up after 2 years away with various injuries. McClanahan looks great under the circumstances, but for now, he is a 5-and-dive guy. The White Sox might actually have the advantage on the mound tonight, and this is a team that is not quite as hopeless as they have been in recent seasons. Still, the Rays are hitting the ball well, playing defense, running the bases well, and just playing good baseball overall, and I am not ready to fade them in this spot. I think we get a good debut out of Shultz, but the Rays ultimately squeak out the game. Give me Tampa to win outright.
