The Minnesota Twins dominated the Toronto Blue Jays in the series opener on Thursday night, becoming the first team to really shell Kevin Gausman this season. The Blue Jays will attempt to bounce back in the series on Friday night by sending Patrick Corbin to the mound, while the Twins will counter with Simeon Woods Richardson, who was once in Toronto’s organization after coming the other way in the Marcus Stroman trade with the New York Mets.

Most are waiting for the bubble to burst with Patrick Corbin, but it looks like whatever work he did in the offseason to prepare for another MLB job worked in his favor. Corbin has been lights out over his last three starts for the Blue Jays, allowing just four earned runs. He is yet to record a decision, but has been settling in well since a rocky first outing.

Things haven’t been going as smoothly for Woods Richardson, as he allowed three or more earned runs in each of his last four starts. Control has been an issue for him over the past three starts, walking three batters in each of those outings. The righty hasn’t been able to stay in games long because of that issue, which turns the games over to a Minnesota bullpen that has the third-worst ERA in the majors.
