It’s been an eventful offseason in Arizona. Even after getting to the playoffs, the Cardinals had to watch their division rival LA Rams win a Super Bowl after embarrassing them a few weeks prior. Following the first playoff appearance in the Kyler Murray era, Arizona traded for Marquise Brown in hopes of bolstering its passing attack. However, the Cardinals did suffer a few significant losses, particularly on the defensive side of the football. Can Murray lead Arizona to another playoff berth, or will the Cardinals be on the outside looking in this season?

Arizona Cardinals Super Bowl odds

The Cardinals are +3500 to win Super Bowl LVII, which puts them at 15th overall in the oddsmakers minds. They are just ahead of the Titans, Saints and Raiders.

Arizona Cardinals NFC Championship odds

Arizona is +2000 to triumph in the NFC. That trails 7 other teams, including divisional rivals the Rams and 49ers.

Arizona Cardinals NFC West odds

At +400, the Cardinals are the third favorites to win the NFC West. The San Francisco 49ers are ahead at +150, and the Rams are slight favorites at +125.

Arizona Cardinals win total odds

The Rams’ win quota is 8.5 games. Under 8.5 is a slight -115 favorite, while the over comes with -105 odds. Arizona has +125 odds to make the playoffs, while a bet on the Cardinals to miss the playoffs would pay out at -150 odds.

Arizona Cardinals 2021 season recap

By now, we all know the story with the Cardinals. This is a team that consistently gets off to hot starts under head coach Kliff Kingsbury, before flaming out in the second half. That’s exactly what happened in 2021, as Arizona was actually the top seed in the NFC at the midway point. However, the Cardinals couldn’t hold up down the stretch, dropping 4 of 5 and losing out in the division to the Rams. To make matters worse, Arizona was then embarrassed by the Rams in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

Arizona Cardinals 2022 NFL season predictions

After a disappointing end to the season, it’s been an offseason of change for Kyler Murray and company. The Cardinals brought in Murray’s former college teammate Marquise Brown after losing Christian Kirk to Jacksonville. Arizona also brought back Zach Ertz and tried to fortify its defense in the draft. However, I don’t think the Cardinals will even sniff 11 wins this season. For starters, they were not given an easy schedule. With 4 games against the AFC West and non-divisional games against the Buccaneers, Vikings, Eagles and Saints, this is a brutal slate. They’ll also be without DeAndre Hopkins for the first 6 games of the campaign due to his suspension, which will certainly impact their offense. Even once Hopkins is back, he’s typically a risk to be injured, and Murray’s durability is questionable as well. Therefore, a playoff appearance seems improbable.

Best bet: Arizona Cardinals under 8.5 wins (-115)

For my best bet, I’ll be backing the Cardinals under 8.5 wins. All things considered, this looks like a steal when taking into account the schedule and potential for injuries. Furthermore, Arizona lost a few key pieces on the defensive side last season, including longtime stalwart Chandler Jones. There’s no guarantee that the Cardinals will be able to fill that void successfully via their draft picks. Arizona is likely to begin the season 1-3, with the only projected victory coming against Carolina. Following that tough slate, the Cardinals are projected favorites in 3 of their next 5 games, so let’s give them 3 wins. That brings their record to 4-5 at the halfway point.

From there, Arizona is projected to be an underdog in 5 of its remaining 8 games. In fact, 6 of the Cardinals’ remaining 8 games are against projected playoff teams. Therefore, even if they end up going 4-4 during that stretch, that still leaves them with just 8 wins. With an unkind schedule and questions across the board, I think Arizona will take a significant step back this fall.

Arizona Cardinals season record predictions

Arizona should take a step back this season, and with that comes a losing campaign. I have the Cardinals finishing with an 8-9 record.
