Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 72 wins and 57 losses for a gain of +11.85 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Wednesday.

Jose Urquidy (HOU) over 5.5 hits allowed (+100)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Even with a 5-2 record this season for the Houston Astros, Jose Urquidy has struggled all season long. His ERA is just below 5 and he’s allowed 69 hits this season, 4th most in baseball. So, let’s attack his hits allowed prop versus the young and hungry Seattle Mariners.

Urquidy is awfully familiar with this Mariners offense. He faced off against them less than 2 weeks ago and had his worst outing of the season. He allowed 12 hits and only lasted 4 2/3 innings pitched. This Mariners offense is headlined by J.P Crawford, Ty France, and Julio Rodriguez. These three hitters combined are hitting over .370 versus Urquidy in their careers.

Urquidy’s out prop is set at 17.5. He’s converted that in all 3 starts at home which evidentially has allowed all 3 opponents to register at least 6 hits.

Seattle has combined for 12 hits against Justin Verlander and Cristian Javier in the first two games of this series. I expect a decent outing at home from Urquidy, but for Seattle to put plenty of balls in play.

Shane Bieber (CLE) under 2.5 earned runs (-105)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Bieber is back! After a patchy start to his 2022 campaign, Bieber has allowed 6 earned runs over 28 innings pitched through his last 4 games. He hasn’t faced the toughest opponents during that stretch, and it almost gets even easier today against the Texas Rangers.

We’ve been known to fade this Rangers offense against right-handed pitching. They’re hitting at a bottom 10 rate and have only scored 3 runs in 3 of their last 10 games against right-handed starters.

Bieber was a potential AL CY Young candidate for me before the season started. It seems that he’s finally finding his grove and I have no doubt in mind that he deals tonight!
