Best MLB player prop bet today 7/17: Shane Bieber eyes up a sweep
Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write up my plays for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 121 wins and 94 losses for a gain of +19 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Sunday.
Shane Bieber (CLE) under 2.5 earned runs (-135)
Line available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.
The Detroit Tigers fade continues. We miraculously won this same bet with Zach Plesac on Friday when he allowed 2 earned runs but the Tigers scored 5. Bieber is no stranger to this Tigers squad and should have his way today.
The Tigers continue to struggle against right-handed pitching. They’ve stayed under this line against right-handed starters in 7 straight games and are coming off registering only 4 hits against Cal Quantrill. We’ve seen their strikeout rate and batting average dip to the bottom 10 of the league against right-handed pitching in July.
Bieber has gone under this line in 10 of 17 starts this season, which includes 2 out of 3 this season against the Tigers. Bieber is fresh off a complete game against the Chicago White Sox in which he allowed 1 run.
