Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write up my plays for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 125 wins and 96 losses for a gain of +19 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Friday.

Zac Gallen (ARI) over 17.5 outs (-130)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Zac Gallen and myself go way back. I would need another set of hands to count how many times I’ve backed the 26-year-old. Tonight, he’ll face off against the Washington Nationals at home.

This is a solid matchup for Gallen. The Nationals don’t strike out and tend to swing early in counts. Other than Home Run Derby champion Juan Soto and his league-leading 79 walks, this lineup is one that Gallen can easily work through. Before the all-star break, we backed Kyle Wright and he dominated through 7 innings.

Since June, the Nationals are striking out at the 2nd-lowest rate against right-handed pitching and also seeing the 2nd fewest pitches per plate appearance.

I expect Gallen to stay in full control of this game and limit his walks. He’s over this line in 9 of 17 starts and will look to have a surgical 2nd half of the season.
