Dean Kremer (BAL) Over 2.5 earned runs (-120)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

At first glance, the Chicago Cubs may be a team bettors would want to fade, but they’re much more lethal at home than they are on the road. They’re hitting .329 against RHP at Wrigley Field in June and now get to tee off against Dean Kremer and his .329 OBA on the road.

Kremer’s advanced metrics are glaring. His xERA, xBA, and hard hit% all rank in the bottom 10 percentile in baseball. He has allowed at least 3 earned runs in 8 of 14 starts and 5 of 7 on the road. He’s projected to pitch into the 6th inning today with beautiful weather set for first pitch in Chicago.

Zack Wheeler (PHI) to record a win (-129)

Line available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing.

The Phillies are playing their best baseball of the season and it couldn’t have come at a better time. They’ve won 12 of their last 14 games including winning series on the road against the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. Zack Wheeler and company look for the sweep of the Oakland Athletics on Sunday and potentially move up the NL wild-card standings. Meanwhile, after their longest winning streak of the season, the Athletics have returned to the bottom of the MLB.

Let’s focus on Wheeler. Like the Phillies, Wheeler has found his groove. He has allowed only 1 earned run in his last 2 starts and has limited baserunners. He hasn’t allowed more than 1 walk in any start since April. He’ll be leaned upon heavily today with the Phillies having to use plenty of arms yesterday in a 12-inning thriller.

In June, the Phillies continue hit LHP well enough to rank in the top 10 in batting average and slugging. They’ll be opposed by LHP Hogan Harris, who has been impressive. He’s found ways to limit offenses such as the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros. But I’ll bank on Wheeler pitching deep into this game and holding a lead for the Phillies.
