Bryce Elder (Braves) to record a win (+110)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Two of the top-hitting teams against RHP go head to head on Monday. The NL East-leading Atlanta Braves travel to Cleveland to take on the AL Central-leading Guardians with two young starting pitchers taking the mound. Bryce Elder is our focal point but we also have to key in on RHP Gavin Williams, who is making the third start of his MLB career.

Williams struggled in his first outing against the Oakland Athletics. The hard-throwing righty punched out only 4 batters and issued 3 walks and 4 earned runs. He bounced back in a huge way against the underwhelming Kansas City Royals by shutting them out through 7 innings. The books presume for Williams to struggle tonight though as his earned run prop is set at 3.5 while Elder’s prop is 2.5 with juice on the under.

Elder is fresh off being announced an All-Star for the National League and is riding a nice wave at the moment. He has allowed only 3 earned runs combined in his last 3 starts. He’s going deep into games with his efficient ways to get batters out and has eclipsed 6 innings pitched in 11 of 16 starts and registered a win in 3 of his last 5 starts.

All eyes will be on the best offense in baseball that is hitting RHP at a .313 clip in the last 30 days and a league-leading on-base percentage of .377. Fingers crossed that Elder will hand the ball off with a lead to one of the best bullpens in baseball and cash our top MLB player prop bet.

Matt McLain (Reds) over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs (-140)

Line available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.

It’s a tough decision on which Cincinnati Reds hitter you want to back today against RHP Jake Irvin. For me it is Matt McLain. The Reds have been smashing righties over the last two weeks with an average of .279, due in large part to McLain hitting .324 during that span. McLain is a great piece in the two-hole for the Reds in front of Jonathan India and Elly Da La Cruz, who hit RHP better than LHP.

Jake Irvin hasn’t been completely bad for the Nationals in his first season in the big leagues but he doesn’t offer much strikeout stuff and hitters rarely chase against him as he ranks in the bottom 3rd percentile in chase rate. McLain was issued 2 walks yesterday but failed to score with India and Cruz going hitless. Look for not only McLain but the rest of the order to come out firing after a lackluster day from the plate yesterday.
