Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season is listed in my bio. On the year, I recorded 150 wins and 107 losses for a gain of +31 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite plays for Saturday.

Tony Gonsolin (LAD) under 2.5 earned runs (-145)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

If you haven’t heard of the name “Tony Gonsolin,” I’m here to tell you that he is quietly one of the games bright stars. Gonsolin gets overshadowed by Los Angeles Dodgers pitching studs Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler, but his ERA is actually better than both. He’s allowed only 7 earned runs through 39.0 innings pitched.

He is familiar with this Arizona Diamondbacks’ offense. He has pitched against them twice this season and has allowed 2 earned runs in both starts which is his most all season.

Gonsolin has had back-to-back games of 7 strikeouts. He is pitching his changeup and slider with extreme confidence. I have the 28 year-old at 2 runs allowed over 6.0 innings pitched.

Jose Urquidy (HOU) under 16.5 outs (-120)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

The Seattle Mariners showed us who was boss last night. Our Justin Verlander under 1.5 earned runs bet lost on the 3rd batter of the night with Julio Rodriguez going yard. Verlander did get into a groove for the Houston Astros following that 1st inning debacle and pitched 6.0 innings; something I do not see Urquidy doing.

Urquidy away from Houston is a great sight for us. He is under this line in all 5 road games, including only going 4.0 innings against Seattle in April. His road ERA is 6.55…not very good!

The Mariners’ bats seem to be heating up. They have scored at least 5 runs against 3 of the last 5 right-handed starters they have faced. Urquidy tends to allow a ton of hits but finds his way to get out of jams. If the defense behind him can’t muster double-plays, we should see Urquidy only go about 5.0 innings.
