Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 63 wins and 50 losses for a gain of +7.3 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite plays for Friday.

James Kaprielian (OAK) over 4.5 hits allowed (-136)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Kaprielian has been roughed up in his last 2 starts. After allowing 9 runs through his 1st 4 games, he’s allowed just as many runs against the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners in back-to-back matchups. It gets a lot tougher tonight as he faces off against the high-powered Boston Red Sox.

Boston has been a machine on the road against right-handed pitching. They’ve recorded at least 5 hits in 8 straight games away from Fenway when the opposition is a righty. This includes games against Lucas Giolito and Dylan Cease, who both have a much more elite pitch mix than Kaprielian.

No matter the lineup, expect Boston to come out hot with their .302 batting average against righties in the last month.

Josiah Gray (WSH) over 4.5 hits allowed (-112)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

I have enjoyed fading Josiah Gray this season. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll be in this league for a long time but the 24-year-old has had his struggles.

Gray’s command has been a mess to start the year. He’s issued 25 walks and fails to hit the strike zone early in counts. Washington has a long leash with their top prospect. He’s thrown over 90 pitches in 5 of his last 7 starts which has resulted in him allowing over 5 hits in 5 of those starts.

There’s not much to love about this Cincinnati Reds offense but they do have a top-10 batting average against right-handed pitching at home.

This is a solid price on FanDuel at -112 compared to DraftKings at -130.
