You have to shop around on every MLB player prop and today is no different. FanDuel has this guy at 6.5 -116. No way. BetMGM has 6.5 -115. Nope. DraftKings has 6.5 +100 which feels right to me so I’ll go with that.
Sonny Gray is what I like to call, all over the map. He legitimately could go for double-digit strikeouts or 3. (Technically he’s only gone double digits once this season but he has hit 8 a few times.) He’s been good recently as he’s struck out at least 7 guys in 3 of his last 5 starts. The 2 times he failed to do it was because he got hit pretty hard. That is unlikely tonight.
Gray gets the Pittsburgh Pirates, who were sellers at the trade deadline. They went from a team that doesn’t strike out to one that does. They finally faced a K-guy last night in Freddy Peralta and he whiffed them 9 times. As a team they struck out 13 times. This feels like a sneaky spot to back Gray at a decent price. This is my favorite MLB player prop of the day/night.
