Best MLB player props for Wednesday's slate: Carrasco spears Marlins

Carlos Carrasco MLB player props

It’s August now and football is clearly on the horizon. We’re getting injury news, training camp fights as well as fantasy ranking updates 24 hours a day. While all this is happening, it’s important to remember that the boys of summer are still playing. Unlike our football friends, we can bet on these guys every single night of the week for the foreseeable future. MLB player props are obviously the way to go and there are 2 tonight that are worth all of our time and effort. There will be plenty of time for football later. Let’s stay focused on the here and now for the time being. It’s best for all of us.

These MLB player props aren’t the only show in town. Be sure to check out our experts’ picks on all of the MLB action today. It’s just a smart thing to do. Also, bets can be added to the card so why not follow me on Twitter in case we get some last-second action? It makes perfect sense.

Carlos Carrasco over 4.5 strikeouts (+120)

Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing.

The books can’t agree on what Carlos Carrasco is right now and that’s great for guys like us who bet MLB player props. FanDuel has him at 5.5 +140. BetMGM doesn’t even have a number for him. DraftKings has 4.5 +120. It’s pure chaos in the streets and I’m here for it.

Carrasco looked good in his season debut Friday night. He’s being stretched out so he only threw 58 pitches but I think he gets into the 70s tonight. Even though he was limited to less than 60 pitches, he still found time to whiff 4 guys. He’s always been a “strikeout guy” and it appears that hasn’t changed much.

He gets the Miami Marlins tonight who have multiple guys that will contribute to Carrasco’s K-total. With Jazz Chisholm on the COVID-19 IL, Bryan De La Cruz, Jorge Alfaro, and Isan Diaz should all be in the lineup. We could even see Alfaro and Alex Jackson in the lineup like yesterday which would be even better. Both guys are 30+% strikeout guys. Marlins starter, Zach Thompson, should be good for a whiff as he’s struck out 4 times in only 9 at-bats this season. How does this bet not hit?

Zac Gallen over 4.5 hits allowed (+105)

I haven’t done a ton of the hits allowed MLB player props but I’m looking to get wet tonight. I’m diving in. The only place I am seeing this move is DraftKings but it’s for plus money so I’m in.

It’s tough to be sure which Zac Gallen will show up but lately the one that gets hit like a piñata has been present. Over his last 5 starts, he’s given up at least 5 hits in 4 of them. He’s walking a lot of guys which is an issue since it takes away from hits but still, 4.5 at plus money is a good deal here.

Gallen has looked awful in 2 starts against San Francisco this season, never even getting out of the third in either game. He gave up 5 hits in his last start against the Giants but only gave up 4 in the first start. Lefties have been a problem for him all season (.288 average) so between LaMonte Wade Jr, Mike Yastrzemski, Alex Dickerson, Brandon Crawford, and Steven Duggar, we should get home.
