Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. The NBA brings an 8-game slate our way on Wednesday, including a pair of nationally televised games. First, we will get to see an always-spicy encounter as Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns take on Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks live on ABC. That will be followed by a matchup that we will surely get to witness for years to come as Chet Holmgren and the Oklahoma City Thunder take on Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on ESPN. You can read our NBA predictions for Wednesday’s action. But for now, let’s get into my NBA parlay for today.

Hornets ML (+124)

Cavaliers ML (+220)

POR/HOU Over 222.5 (-110)

NBA parlay odds: +1268

Charlotte Hornets ML over Detroit Pistons (+124)

It is surprising to see the Charlotte Hornets as the underdogs tonight against the Detroit Pistons. They have a better record and have shown better form over the last 10 games. While they have just lost Terry Rozier via trade, they have their star LaMelo Ball available tonight. The Pistons are welcoming back Cade Cunningham, but it will be his first game in 7 after a knee injury. Do not be surprised to see his usage capped tonight.

Over the last 10 games, the Pistons have been 29th in defensive rating. That should help the Hornets mitigate the loss of Rozier. The visitors are a more respectable 21st in that category and should have more success slowing down the hosts. Look for Ball to carry the visitors to their 2nd straight win here.

Cleveland Cavaliers ML over Milwaukee Bucks (+220)

The Milwaukee Bucks are out with Adrian Griffin and in with Doc Rivers. This change might not come quick enough to sort out their defensive issues ahead of their meeting against the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Over the last 10 games, Milwaukee is just 26th in defensive rating while the Cavs rank 2nd. Donovan Mitchell has been cooking for them too, guiding them to 8 straight wins as the team’s point guard, the longest current winning streak in the league. I have little faith that Malik Beasley or Damian Lillard can turn into shutdown defenders overnight. I fully expect Mitchell to have plenty of success attacking pick and rolls, especially if Brook Lopez is involved. These sides met a week ago, and while Giannis Antetokounmpo did not play, the Cavaliers won by 40. Mitchell had 31 points in 26 minutes. I can’t see a major drop-off here.

Portland Trail Blazers vs Houston Rockets Over 222.5 (-110)

Over the last 10 games, these teams have been 10th and 16th in pace respectively. So, with this one being played at a fairly fast tempo, it’s strange to see the total line set so low. The Trail Blazers have been horrible against opposing offenses too, ranking 28th during that stretch in defensive rating. The Rockets are in the bottom half of the league themselves there. They also both boast a pair of guards in Anfernee Simons and Fred VanVleet who can just go off from beyond the arc on any given night. On the season, no team allows more fast-break points per game than the Trail Blazers. It is something I expect the Rockets to try and exploit — pushing the ball down the floor. The fact the visitors will be on the second night of a back-to-back should be an added incentive.
