Best NBA player prop bets at Bet365 Sportsbook today, 3/3: The Jayson Tatum show

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum (0) celebrates his game-winning basket against the Philadelphia 76ers during the fourth quarter at Wells Fargo Center.

It’s a busy Friday night in the association as 20 teams are taking the court. There are several matchups worth a watch, such as the Knicks facing the Heat in South Beach and the Grizzlies taking on the Nuggets in the Mile High City. And if you’re interested in the tankathon matchups, the Magic are battling the Hornets in Charlotte. I’ve taken a look at the Bet365 player prop market and I found 2 best bets for today. Also be sure to check out our NBA picks for tonight.

Jayson Tatum over 9.5 rebounds (-105)

Available at Bet365 Sportsbook at time of publishing

Since the all-star break, Jayson Tatum has recorded at least 10 rebounds in 3 of the 4 games. The only game he failed to do so was against the Knicks, but disclaimer, he was ejected from the game in the 4th quarter. The Celtics star has been crashing the boards more often in the last few weeks, and it might just be to get a double-double and make his stat line look better. After all, this is the guy that dropped 55 points in the All-Star Game. The Celtics have a favorable matchup against the Nets tonight, who have gone 0-4 since the break. The most concerning part for Brooklyn in that 4-game stretch is that they’ve allowed an average of 130 points per game. Their defense has been atrocious, and a big reason for that is second-chance opportunities.

The Nets rank 30th in rebounding rate in the second half of the season as most of the responsibility has fallen on one player, Nic Claxton. Boston should have plenty of scoring opportunities and dominate Brooklyn on the boards, so I’ll back Tatum to grab double-digit rebounds.

Lauri Markkanen over 29.5 points (-115)

Available at Bet365 Sportsbook at time of publishing

The Jazz against the Thunder was supposed to be a battle of the frontrunners for the Most Improved Player award, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will remain out on Friday. That means all eyes will be on Lauri Markkanen to continue his hot shooting. Since the all-star break, Markkanen has dropped 43 (against the Thunder), 27 and 28 points. His outburst against the Thunder was not a coincidence since Oklahoma City does not have a defender with the height or athleticism that Markkanen has. The Finnish big man finished with over 40 points against the Thunder a week ago and that was with him shooting 3-of-12 from 3-point land.

Markkanen doesn’t need to catch fire from the perimeter to win this bet, as he’s proven he can finish at the rim and draw fouls against this small Thunder lineup. He’s the center of the Utah offense and averaged 27.2 points per game in February, so I’m confident he can replicate his past performance against the Thunder and finish with at least 30 points.
