Another NBA Saturday ahead of us as we inch closer to All-Star break. The starters have been announced and in true NBA fan fashion, we have our complaints. Joel Embiid was snubbed as a starter in the East, while many question Zion as a starter in the West over Domantas Sabonis. Tonight, we have 11 games ahead of us, with the first tipping off at 3:10 EST, with Jokic and Embiid squaring off in Philadelphia. The battle of NY commences in the afternoon with the Knicks making a short trek to Barclay’s center in Brooklyn. The Kings travel to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves on the second leg of a back-to-back.

To put a bow on our Saturday night, the Lakers start a 3-game East coast road trip with the Celtics as their first leg. In the next week or so, LeBron will break Kareem’s record and the focus shifts to which team it will be against. I have my own suspicions, but let’s see how this road trip plays out for King James and the Lakers.

Nic Claxton (BKN) under 28.5 points and rebounds (-120)

Line available on PointsBet at the time of publishing.

Claxton has been playing the best ball of his career these last few games and as a result, this line is the highest it’s been all season for the Nets center. The Knicks are a tough out for any center this season, ranking top 3 in fewest RPG and and #1 in PPG. Claxton has never hit this line against the Knicks and will have a tough time in the post scoring against Mitchell Robinson and Isaiah Hartenstein. The Knicks are giving up the fewest PPG in the paint on the road this year (44ppg) and I’m taking advantage of this high total. 1U

DeMar DeRozan (CHI) over 26.5 points (-109)

Line available on BetRivers at the time of publishing.

DeRozan is averaging 26ppg on the season and 26ppg over the L10. He travels to Orlando who is on a back-to-back against a weak backcourt defensively, in my opinion. Markelle Fultz, Gary Harris, Jalen Suggs, and Cole Anthony will struggle to keep DeRozan from getting to his spots in the mid-range, and the Magic lack true wing defenders outside of Franz Wagner. Orlando is giving up the most PPG to opposing SFs on the season and DeRozan has already gone off for 41 against the Magic this year. 1U

Jaylen Brown (BOS) over 9.5 R+A (-128)

Line available on FanDuel at the time of publishing.

Jaylen Brown let us down two nights ago in OT when he missed BOTH free throws with the game in the balance. I’m expecting him to bounce back in a big way today against the Lakers. He’s averaging 10.3 R+A on the season and 9.5 over the L10. The Lakers are an ideal matchup for this play as they struggle on the glass and are 20th overall in defensive rating. Marcus Smart is likely out again and Brown is averaging 9.5 potential assists in his absence. This is my favorite play of the day and is 1.5U.

Jordan Clarkson (UTA) over 19.5 points (-120)

Line available on DraftKings at the time of publishing.

Clarkson is averaging 23ppg over the L10 and 21 on the season, so we get a great line on this point total. The Mavericks will be playing their first prepared game without Luka/Christian Wood, and I’m willing to believe Jason Kidd is going to throw many different rotations on the floor to see which works best. The Mavericks are 24th overall in aDRTG and a backcourt of Spencer Dinwiddie/Tim Hardaway Jr is something Clarkson should lick his chops over. Back in November, Clarkson had 22 points from 44% from the field against the Mavericks and should be in line for a similar output. 0.5U
