We have a 7-game NBA slate for us on Saturday. The key matchups of the day are the Dallas Mavericks vs Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans vs Phoenix Suns. It’s early in the days so injury reports are still trickling in, but I have a few spots I like so far. Currently picking 61% on NBA for the season and just surpassed +10U. Let’s keep this streak rolling!

Darius Garland (CLE) over 27.5 points and assists (-105)

Line available on DraftKings sportsbook at the time of publishing.

Garland has hit this in 9/12 home games this season but has seen his scoring really tail off in December. Against Dallas on the road, he finished with 12 points and 6 assists and put up one of his quietest performances of the season. That was largely in part to Donovan Mitchell’s 34-point performance and Lamar Stevens having his best game of the season. While I expect Mitchell to continue to his All-NBA caliber season, I’m seeing Stevens come back down to earth and Garland expected to pick up that slack offensively. This is the second night of a back-to-back, where Garland averages 9.8 APG in those spots.

In the scoring column, Garland is coming off his first 20-point performance in 5 straight games and was attacking the basket frequently as we saw in his 8 FT attempts (highest since November). I’m taking this as a sign he’s more engaged offensively and will get back to the 24.1 points and 8.5 assists he averaged in November. 1U

Jonas Valanciunas (NOL) over 21.5 points + rebounds (-120)

Line available on DraftKings sportsbook at the time of publishing.

Suns center Deandre Ayton is out tonight with an ankle injury, and it should give Jonas Valanciunas some freedom to operate in the paint. The Lithuanian big man is far more active on the road than at home, averaging 15.8PPG and 10.2 RPG when traveling; both numbers higher than his home splits. The undersized Bismack Biyombo should start for Phoenix tonight, and I view it as a positive for Valanciunas. Back on October 28, the Suns and Pelicans squared off. Ayton left the game early after only logging 7 minutes and Biyombo stepped in to fill the void at Center. The result? JV finished with a team high 25 points and 10 rebounds. Despite Zion becoming the focus of this Pelicans team over the last few weeks, Valanciunas’ usage rate is the highest it’s been all season. I like the line and the matchup for JV. 1U
