Best NBA player prop bets for Tuesday: Will Jokic do it again?

Nikola Jokic Playing for Nuggets

Happy Tuesday everyone! Quality over quantity is the order of the day, as we’ve got a nice and slick six-game slate on tap in the NBA today. With the largest spread set at just six points, it should provide competitive basketball and plenty of entertaining matchups. Before we dive into my favorite prop bets, make sure you check out all of our experts’ thoughts on the side and total for each of those games.

I got off to a great start and went 2-0 last Tuesday for my Pickswise debut! I’ve got two more terrific plays up my sleeve so let’s try to make it 4-0. Below, I’ve broken down two of my favorite bets, and why I think they offer some nice value.

Nikola Jokic Over 26.5 Points (-110)

Nikola Jokic is in the midst of the best season of his career, and he is the top three contestants for the MVP award. He is currently scoring 27.1 points per game, so his line is under his average. An interesting aspect about Jokic is that he has increased usage against higher quality opponents, in addition to scoring more. The Serbian big man averages 24.7 points against teams that are below .500, and 28.2 against teams above .500.

Jokic faced the Bucks only three weeks ago and scored 35 points in a loss. He is currently the best shooting big in the league, which is a crucial aspect against the Bucks defense. Milwaukee excels at defending the rim, conversely, they allow plenty of wide-open shots in the midrange area as well as three-pointers. Jokic and Murray run a lot of pick and roll as well as roll/pop, which the Bucks typically respond by having their bigs collapse the paint, which in turn will allow Jokic to see plenty of open looks.

Similar players to Jokic have also had great success versus the Bucks. Vucevic scored 28 points which is four points above his season average, and came in a blowout loss, in only 31 minutes. Another player is Karl-Anthony Towns, who scored 26, which is four points above his season average.

Paul George Over 4.5 Assists (-110)

Paul George is having by far the best playmaking season of his career. He is averaging 5.5 assists per game, while his previous career-high was 4.1. The Clippers run so much offense through him because they don’t have a real playmaker on the roster and he’s handling the ball more than ever.

In the last 10 games, he went over this line eight times. In the two games where he stayed under the line, he was on a minutes’ restriction, and he is now back to playing his normal minutes. The Clippers and the Celtics played last season and he had eight assists in that game.
