I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. Our expert went 2-0 last night with 2 plus-money plays, and we have more great value for you tonight. There’s just 5 games on the ice but several great matchups. Despite the small slate, we actually have a bonus play for you as well. Not only that, we have secondary suggestions to go along with each official play, so be sure to check out the full breakdown. With an extra pick to get to, let’s dive right in.

Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Nikita Kucherov over 1.5 points (+135)

Let’s open things up with some plus-money for tonight’s action. The Tampa Bay Lightning will be looking to bounce back from their 4-2 loss against the Detroit Red Wings on home ice Tuesday night. They’ll be out to do so against the Nashville Predators, again at home. That sets up perfectly for former-MVP Nikita Kucherov to lead his team to victory lane. He’s loved facing the Preds as of late. In 2 meetings last season, Kucherov recorded 2 and 3 points, and just 3 weeks ago had another 3-point game against them.

That was in Nashville, and the Preds have been far worse on the road. They’re allowing the 6th-most goals per game away from home, which sets up nicely for the Lightning in Tampa. Kucherov and company are tied for the 3rd-best goalscoring team at home, despite just 2 goals on Tuesday. While this play is at plus-money, Kucherov is no stranger to recording multiple points. His 37 points are the 4th-most in the NHL, and he has multiple 100-point seasons in his career. Snag a Steven Stamkos assist prop as well while you’re making this play on Kucherov.

Blake Wheeler over 0.5 points (-155)

We only need a single point for our second play, which is great at this price point. Props have proven to have significantly more value simply for skaters on the road, so we’ll take it while the matchup is great. The Winnipeg Jets are leading the Central Division (well over the Colorado Avalanche) and will be facing the St. Louis Blues tonight. While this game will be on their home ice, St. Louis has been the one singing the Blues there this season. Goaltender Jordan Binnington has been getting far too much attention for his antics rather than his play. The Blues are allowing the 4th-most goals per game overall, the 4th-most at home, and the 3rd-most in the last month.

Therefore, we expect all of the Jets top skaters to have a nice night, but Wheeler provides the best value. He’s been on the top line along with Mark Scheifele (21 points in 24 games) and is on the first power play unit. On that unit are also 3 other skaters with over a point per game. Therefore, there’s no true concern if the Jets swap up lines, as they have 5 key skaters all capable of contributing to goals at any time. It also doesn’t hurt that Wheeler had an assist against the Blues earlier this season. Expect Josh Morrissey to extend his team-lead in points, but grab the value with Wheeler.

Jason Robertson over 1.5 points (+145)

Our final play is on one of the best young skaters in the NHL. Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars has an incredible 41 points in 26 games, the 3rd-most in the league. He just had his 18-game point streak snapped, and we expect him to bounce back in a big way. The Stars were just shockingly shut out at home by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. However, don’t let that cause hesitation with this play. The Leafs have the NHL’s 3rd-best goaltending. Now the Stars get to take on the Ottawa Senators, who allow the 13th-most goals per game.

While that’s not off-the-charts terrible, this is still more about Dallas. Even after that rare off-night, they’re still scoring the 3rd-most goals per game overall and in the last month. They’re even better at home (3.85 goals per game), and so is Robertson. He’s recorded multiple points in 9 of the Stars’ 13 home games, 4 of which were 3-point performances. Robertson has also recorded a point in every game this season except for 4. One of those was against the Senators, and you can be sure he knows that and will be out for revenge. Look for Joe Pavelski to feed him an assist, but grab the plus-money with Robertson.
