College Basketball pick today: Michigan State Spartans -3.5 over Ohio State Buckeyes, 2:30 pm ET

From a matchup perspective, Michigan State should be able to score efficiently via pick-and-roll. According to Synergy, the Spartans rank in the 90th percentile in pick-and-roll offense. Ohio State has struggled defending pick-and-roll this season, ranking in just the 29th percentile.

On the other end, Michigan State is well-equipped to handle an Ohio State offense that doesn’t get many easy buckets at the rim. Per Hoop-Math, Ohio State gets the 12th-fewest shots at the rim in the entire country. Because of the offensive struggles from the Buckeyes, backing the Spartans to cover will be the play.

College Basketball pick today: Tennessee Volunteers -6 over Missouri Tigers (-110), 3:30 pm ET

Despite losing to Missouri at home earlier this season, Tennessee is the bet to make this time around. The key to defending Missouri is defending in transition, as the Tigers rank in the 85th percentile in transition offense, per Synergy. Tennessee ranks in the 99th percentile in transition defense. The best way to keep Missouri out of transition is to punish them on the offensive glass. The Tigers rank dead-last in the country in defensive rebounding rate, while Tennessee ranks fifth in the country in offensive rebounding rate. For that reason, backing the Vols to cover will be the play.

NHL pick today: Florida Panthers -1.5 over Chicago Blackhawks (-165), 7:07 pm ET

The Chicago Blackhawks continue their three-game road trip when they play the Florida Panthers tonight. The Blackhawks have struggled of late, with only one win in their last six games, whereas the Panthers are on the opposite side of the spectrum, with three wins in their last four games.

The big advantage in this game is how much the Panthers could pressure the Blackhawks defense the entire game. Over the past two weeks, the Panthers have been one of the best teams in the league in generating scoring chances, ranking first in expected goals. This doesn’t bode well for a Blackhawks back end that is one of the worst in the NHL in keeping pressure away from their net, ranking 29th in expected goals against over the same time frame. For that reason, look for the Panthers to control this game from start to finish and back the Panthers on the puck line.

NHL pick today: Calgary Flames -1.5 over Anaheim Ducks (-140), 9:07 pm ET

In a Pacific Division matchup, the Calgary Flames will host the Anaheim Ducks tonight. As it stands, Calgary is desperate for wins. Coming into the season they had expectations of battling for first in the Pacific Division. However, with 17 games to go, they are currently 5th in the Pacific Division and four points away from the second wildcard position. Playing teams like the Anaheim Ducks is just what they need because every win is crucial, and the Ducks are one of the weaker teams in the league.

Calgary is likely going to show up tonight because they are on their home ice. Not to mention that they have a much better and deeper roster. For that reason, backing the Flames on the puck line will be the play.
