JutPicks' best MLB opening day player prop for Thursday: The Guardians have arrived
Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season is listed in my bio. On the year, I recorded 150 wins and 107 losses for a gain of +31 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Thursday.

Shane Bieber (CLE) over 6.5 Ks (-105)
Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Shane Bieber has the privilege of being the first starter on the mound in the history of the Guardians franchise. Bieber is an early favorite to win the American League CY Young award after an injury-plagued 2021 campaign. Finally, he is fully healthy and ready to showcase his stuff.
The Cleveland Guardians face off against a familiar foe in the Kanas City Royals. In 10 career starts versus their division rival, Bieber is over this line in 6 of them, including 21 strikeouts in 15.1 innings last season. He has phenomenal strikeout numbers against the Royals’ core batters Salvador Perez (46% K rate), Carlos Santana (42% K rate), and Hunter Dozier (36% K rate).
Bieber started last season on a tear. He recorded over 7 strikeouts in his first 9 starts and was over this line in 12 of 14 starts before his injury that sidelined him for 3 months. The 2020 CY Young award winner pitched 3 innings in his spring training finale and struck out 6 batters. Be on the lookout for Bieber to show the league that he is still one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball.
