KBO picks and predictions

Saturday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

KT Wiz ML (-128) over Kia Tigers

The Kia Tigers beat the NC Dinos on Friday morning by a score of 12-9. The Tigers are now 52-52-1 on the season and remain 5th in the league standings. They will start Sean Nolin, who is 2-6 on the season and has an ERA of 3.21. In 12 starts this season, he has allowed 24 earned runs over 67.1 innings.

The KT Wiz won their game on Friday, beating the Lotte Giants by a score of 4-3. They are now 58-46-2 on the season and are in 4th place in the league standings. The KT Wiz will counter will start So Hyeong-Jun on Saturday morning, who is 11-2 on the season and has an ERA of 2.76. In 18 starts this season, he has allowed 38 earned runs over 124.0 innings.

Nolin has been decent this season, but Hyeong-Jun has been much more consistent and has been dominant against the Tigers. For that reason, backing the KT Wiz will be the play for Saturday morning.

NC Dinos -2.5 (-104) over Samsung Lions

The NC Dinos lost to the Kia Tigers on Friday morning by a score of 12-9. They are now 45-55-3 on the season and remain in 7th place in the league standings. The Dinos will start Koo Chang-Moo on Saturday morning, who is 5-3 on the season and has an ERA of 1.72. In 11 starts this season, he has allowed 12 earned runs over 62.2 innings.

The Samsung Lions beat the Hanwha Eagles on Friday morning by a score of 9-5. They are now 44-61-2 on the season, but remain in 9th place in the league standings. They will counter with Baek Jung-Hyun on Saturday, who is 0-11 on the season and has an ERA of 6.02. In 16 starts this season, Jung-Hyun has allowed 56 earned runs over 83.2 innings.

Simply put, the Lions pretty much never win when Jung-Hyun is on the mound. Add in the fact that Chang-Mo is one of the best pitchers in the entire KBO and backing the Dinos to win this game comfortably will be the play.

LG Twins -1.5 (-118) over Doosan Bears

The LG Twins had their game against the SSG Landers canceled on Friday due to poor field conditions, and now they will return home to host the Doosan Bears. Because their game was canceled on Friday, the Twins are still 63-39-1 on the season. They have won 3 games in a row, but remain in 2nd place in the league standings. The Twins will start Casey Kelly on Saturday morning, who is 12-2 on the season and has an ERA of 2.88. In 19 starts the season, he has allowed 37 earned runs over 115.2 innings.

The Doosan Bears also had their game canceled on Friday, but due to rain, so they are still 45-56-2 on the season. The Bears are 8th place in the league standings, but are 5.0 games behind the final playoff spot. They will counter with Robert Stock on Saturday morning, who is 9-6 on the season and has an ERA of 3.03. In 20 starts this season, he has allowed 44 earned runs over 130.2 innings.

While both starters have been solid this season, Kelly has been much better against the Bears compared to Stock against the Twins. For that reason, backing the Twins will be the play for Saturday morning.
